Financial Planning in Matawan
We start by finding out what is really holding your money back, whether that is spending, debt, idle savings or a missing piece of protection. Then we build a written financial plan around your goals, one you can understand and actually follow.

A plan that starts with what is actually going on
Most people who come to us already know something feels off. Savings are not growing the way they expected, or a big goal like college or retirement seems further away every year. The tempting move is to grab a new product or a new account. We would rather find the cause first, because the fix for overspending looks nothing like the fix for a portfolio that is too cautious.
Financial planning is the work of putting your whole picture on one page: income, spending, debts, accounts, insurance and the goals you care about. From there we show you where the gaps are and what to do about each one, in order. Clients from Matawan and nearby towns like Aberdeen, Hazlet and Old Bridge can come in and sit down with us, and plenty of families find a video call or a phone conversation fits their week better.

What your financial plan covers
- 01
Cash flow review
We go through what comes in and what goes out, using your real statements rather than estimates. This is often where the actual problem shows up.
- 02
Goal setting with numbers attached
Buying a bigger place, paying for college, retiring at a certain age. We put a target amount and a date on each goal, so you can see at a glance how close you are and what it will take to get there.
- 03
Debt and savings priorities
We help you decide which debts to pay down first and how much to keep in cash before investing more. The order matters as much as the amounts.
- 04
Investment and retirement check
We look at how your accounts are set up and whether they match your timeline. Our Series 7 license and Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor (CRPC) designation mean the investing and retirement parts of your plan get a careful, informed look.
- 05
Protection review
A plan can fall apart if one income disappears. We are licensed to sell life insurance, so we can review your coverage and explain whether it fits your family, without pushing a policy you do not need.
- 06
A written plan and regular check-ins
You leave with clear next steps in writing. We revisit the plan as your life changes so it stays useful.
Questions about Financial Planning?
Call(732) 739-7013Signs a financial plan would help you
You earn more but save the same
Raises keep coming, yet the savings balance barely moves. That usually points to a spending pattern worth looking at.
Your accounts are scattered
Old 401(k)s, a few bank accounts, an IRA you rarely check. When nobody is looking at the whole picture, money ends up working against itself.
A big life change is coming
Marriage, a new baby, a business launch or a job change can reshape your finances overnight. Planning before the change is easier than catching up after.
You are not sure you could retire
If you cannot say roughly when you could stop working, it is time to run the numbers.
You and your partner disagree about money
A shared plan with clear priorities gives you something concrete to talk about instead of guesses.
How we build your plan
- 1
Introductory meeting
We talk about your goals, your worries and what prompted you to call. You will get a sense of how we work and whether we are a good fit.
- 2
Gathering the facts
We ask for statements, pay stubs, insurance policies and account details. We look at the numbers before offering any opinion.
- 3
Finding the real cause
We walk you through what we found, including the one or two issues doing the most damage. Sometimes the answer is simpler than people expect.
- 4
Your written plan
We lay out the steps in priority order and explain each one in plain language. You decide what to act on and when.
- 5
Ongoing reviews
We check in on a regular schedule and whenever something big changes, so the plan keeps up with your life.
What affects the cost of financial planning
Every plan is different, so we explain how pricing works during your introductory meeting before any work begins. You will know what you are paying for and why. These are the main things that shape it.
- How complex your finances are
- A single person with one job and a 401(k) needs less work than a couple with a business, rental income and several accounts.
- How many goals you are planning for
- Each goal, from college funding to early retirement, adds its own analysis.
- Whether you want ongoing support
- A one-time plan costs differently than a relationship with regular reviews and adjustments.
- Related services
- If your plan leads into investment management, tax management or legacy planning, we will explain how those fit together and what each adds.
Financial planning questions
Do I need a lot of money to work with a financial planner?
No. Some of the most useful planning happens early, when small changes have years to add up. We work with individuals, young families, business owners and retirees at many different stages.
How is financial planning different from investment management?
Financial planning looks at your whole picture: spending, debt, insurance, goals and retirement. Investment management is the ongoing handling of your portfolio. Many clients start with a plan and then decide whether they want us to manage their investments too.
What should I bring to the first meeting?
For the introductory meeting, just bring your questions and a rough idea of your goals. If we move forward, we will give you a short list of documents, such as recent statements, pay stubs and insurance policies.
Will you try to sell me insurance?
Life insurance is something we can help with, but we only raise it if your plan shows a real gap in protection. If your current coverage already does the job, we will tell you so and move on.
Can my spouse and I meet with you together?
Yes, and we encourage it. A plan works best when both partners understand it and agree on the priorities. We can sit down in person or set up a video call, whichever is easier for the two of you.

Find out where your money is really going
An introductory meeting is a relaxed conversation about your goals and what is getting in the way. We will listen first and tell you honestly how we can help.
